Mentors and ESNBuddies – what’s the difference?

For international students it is often confusing what is the difference between mentors and ESNBuddies. Vilnius University Students’ Representation (VU SR) every year recruits more than 300 mentors for the first-year full-time students, at the same time VU SR programme ESN Vilnius University recruits ESNBuddies twice per year for the exchange students.

VU SR Mentors – older students that have attended special training on various social and academic topics and know everything about the faculty students are going to study at. They help first-year full-time students integrate into VU and the city in which they are going to study in. In most cases, mentors start contacting their mentees from 3 to 2 weeks before the beginning of studies.

In case you were not contacted by your mentor, please contact VU SR International students’ affairs coordinator – [email protected]

If you want to become a mentor, please contact VU SR unit at your faculty, all the contacts may be found there: Kontaktų kategorija – VU SA

ESNBuddies – VU students that have attended special training and are ready to help out particularly exchange students. ESNBuddies do not counsel students on social and academic topics, also they are not necessarily familiar with the faculty students are going to study at. ESNBuddies help exchange students integrate into VU. Usually, ESNBuddies start contacting their mentees 2 weeks before the arrival.
